USC Institute for Creative Technologies in Playa Vista gets new building to amp up its military VR work - University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies has just moved into 72,000-square feet of shiny new facilities in Playa Vista -- on the same grounds which once served as the headquarters for Howard Hughes' aircraft company. Funded by the US Army to develop virtual reality technology, the ICT's work is now found on 65 military sites across the country. Check out story and video here

The complex is GMP Architects' Azzurra, which judging by the trailer has fireplaces, glass walls, an atrium, a subterranean garage, views of both downtown and the ocean, and a helipad. Pocketed decoy cash explodes on LA robbery witness and a customer picks up the cash and takes off with the money! - authorities say a witness to a Los Angeles bank robbery was arrested after a dye pack from a stack of decoy cash exploded in his pocket. Sheriff's Capt. Michael Parker said in a statement that the man who had robbed the Bank of America in Marina del Rey tossed out the so-called "bait money" as he fled on foot, but Stephen Mullen briefly stepped outside the bank and pocketed it.
